Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg

I think I have seen this movie before.  This book is like “When Harry Met Sally” set in high school. I like the idea of wondering if boys and girls can be just friends as opposed to romantic partners. The story is told as a sort of flashback, with the two friends taking turns telling their story.  Each chapter is prefaced with a conversation (maybe text messages?) between the two.  One negative is that the story is told rather than revealed.  I thought the characters were too self-aware as the events were explained.  One part I loved about this book is that when they go to parties they are not drinking.  At one point Macallan, frustrated with Levi, says “Have you been drinking?” and he snaps back “You know I don’t drink.”
