Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

This book starts like a lot of high school books do these days: Simon is gay, but has not told anyone. The plot gets it’s uniqueness from Simon’s email relationship with the anonymous Blue, a student at his school who is also gay but not telling. When a peer begins to blackmail Simon he needs to find way to be true to his friends, his family, and himself. Cue bullies, awesome drama teachers and earnest parents. The Speir family dynamic was one of the best parts of the book.
