Casebook by Mona Simpson

Miles is a teenager prone to suspicion and eavesdropping.  He goes to extreme lengths to hear what his parents are talking about.  He hears things that make him cringe and things that make him want to listen even more.  This was such a clever and engrossing book.  I struggled for the first third of the book; trying piece together all the threads of the story was challenging.  By the last third I could not put it down.  When I finished, I actually went back and read the first chapters again .

I’ll definitely put Mona Simpson’s other books on my to-read list.
